The Role We are seeking a confident, proactive, and analytical Payroll Officer to join our busy, fast-paced Payroll function. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of payroll services across our workforce, supporting both temporary and permanent staff.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensure timely and accurate payment of wages by BACS to 2,000 temporary workers (weekly) and 240 permanent staff (monthly).
· Update and maintain payroll records.
· Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally.
· Process new starters, leavers, hours worked, expenses, SSP, SMP, absences, commissions, and personal detail changes.
· Complete tax year-end procedures, including P60s, P11Ds, PSA, and other reports.
· Manage all aspects of pensions, including auto-enrolment, communications, reconciliations, compliance, and salary sacrifice.
· Create and provide reports in Microsoft Excel for Finance and Operations teams.
· Support system upgrades with the Projects Team to ensure payroll runs smoothly.
Skills & Qualifications
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with staff at all levels.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· A proactive, flexible approach with a willingness to take on varied tasks.
· Good general knowledge of all payroll aspects.
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills are desirable.
